The Power of Price Files
A customer contacts your sales department about an item. The customer gives your sales department a current part number or item number for a brand you represent. From a professional standpoint, your sales department should not respond by immediately asking the customer, "What is that?" Your sales department should be able to enter the part number and immediately see item description, item dealer price, and item retail prices. Rather than open a price book, log on to a website, make a phone call, or consult an outside source when working with item numbers or part numbers that are not readily apparent, users can consult price files from within Incremental. Price files give users instant access to item descriptions and prices. Price files can be just as indispensable as inventory databases.
Most manufacturers/vendors offer price files. Manufacturer/vendor price files are usually structured to facilitate conversion to formats suitable for different business systems. With little effort, most manufacturer/vendor price files can be converted for use with Incremental. (We can convert files for users.) Price files for Incremental are simple tab-delimited text files. The image below shows the sample price file opened in Microsoft Excel®. Our sample price file contains only three items, but in practice price files typically will contain thousands of items. To learn more about price files and the Incremental price file format please see Incremental Inventory And Invoice Management System Documentation.
